Who we are
Wellnesty (wellnesty.co.uk) is a UK-based editorial site about sexual and intimate wellbeing. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit, what we do with it, and the choices you have. If you have any question this page doesn’t answer, email us at hello@wellnesty.co.uk and we’ll respond directly rather than pointing you back to this page.
What we collect, and why
If you leave a comment on a guide. We store the comment text, the name and email address you enter, your IP address and browser details. This is standard WordPress practice and exists mainly to catch spam. Your email is never shown publicly or passed to anyone else. Comments are kept indefinitely so genuine follow-up discussion stays intact, but you can ask us to remove a comment at any time.
If you subscribe to updates. We store the email address you give us so we can send you new guides. You can unsubscribe at any point using the link in any email we send, or by writing to us — we’ll remove you promptly either way.
If you email us. We keep your email address and message for as long as we need to answer you and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case you follow up. We don’t add your address to any marketing list just because you contacted us.
Automatically, through cookies. Like most websites, we use a small number of cookies to understand how the site is used and, in some cases, to show ads. The next two sections cover exactly what these are.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to see, in aggregate, which guides are useful and which aren’t — things like page views and roughly how visitors found the site. This data is pseudonymised and used only by us; we don’t sell it or hand it to third parties for their own purposes. If you’d rather not be counted, the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on will stop this tracking, and most browsers also let you block analytics cookies directly in their privacy settings.
Advertising
We show ads through Google AdSense, which may use cookies to make the ads you see more relevant, including based on your browsing across other sites. Google, not Wellnesty, controls this data. You can see and adjust what Google knows for advertising purposes at Google’s Ad Centre, and Google explains its approach in its own advertising privacy policy.
Links to retailers
Many of our guides link to retailers where you can buy the products we’ve tested, and we may earn a commission if you buy through one of those links — full detail on how and why is in our affiliate disclosure. Once you click through, you’ve left Wellnesty: the retailer’s own cookies and privacy policy take over, and we don’t see what you do on their site or whether you bought anything.
What we don’t do
Given the subject matter we write about, we know some readers think twice before clicking anything. A few things worth saying plainly: we never sell or rent your personal data to anyone. We don’t require an account, a name or a reason to read any guide on this site. Comment and subscriber data is used only for the purposes above — never combined with other data to build a profile of you.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to ask us:
- what personal data we hold about you, and a copy of it
- to correct anything inaccurate
- to delete your data, where there’s no good reason for us to keep it
- to restrict or object to how we use it
- to receive it in a portable, machine-readable format
Since the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 came into force, you also have a standalone right to opt out of analytics cookies free of charge, separate from any consent you may have given — the Google Analytics opt-out link above does exactly this. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@wellnesty.co.uk; we’ll respond within a month. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can also complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page if what we collect or how we use it changes, and update the date at the top when we do. For how we choose and check the products and claims we write about, see our editorial policy and how we test pages.
